Mr. McCartney has more than 20 years of international banking experience with a record of achievement in originating, structuring and negotiating medium- and long-term, structured, cross-border project financings in a variety of industries including energy, mining and infrastructure.After nearly 7 years at the helm of the KBC Global Project Finance Group in the Americas, Mr. McCartney left KBC in 2003 and founded the multi-faceted cross-border project finance and investment banking advisory services company, Chapin International.
Eric McCartney is widely accredited with having positioned KBC Bank as a leading project finance bank amongst a diverse group of high profile project sponsors.In the Americas, Mr. McCartney secured a number of lead arranger mandates during his tenure and claimed a position in the elite top 10 arrangers of project finance loans several years in a row.
With a unique philosophy of “thinking out of the box”, Mr. McCartney has during the course of his career designed creative solutions to meet the unique challenges presented by today’s evolving project finance market. He has provided project and investment advisory services to developers, institutions and investors since 1990. His strength has been bringing developers and investors together on projects in developing and emerging economies.
Mr. McCartney is a frequent speaker at industry events and has published articles in various project finance trade publications including IFR’s International Project Finance and Euromoney’s Project Finance Magazines.
Mr. McCartney graduated in 1985 from Boston College with a BA in Economics and is currently an MBA candidate with the University of Cumbria. He speaks fluent French, is proficient in German speaking, reading and comprehension, and has a basic working knowledge of Spanish.
